its supposed to be the slow season...

although this is claimed to be the slow season at my work, it has been fairly steady through the wintry months. I had my doubts, although there is already talk of projects coming up, and the even the use of the word "spring". crazy! (this means new porfolio pages, and prepping for the new york stationary show, not to mention normal print jobs)
with talk of the next season around the corner, I was thinking of all the projects I have dedicated myself to in the next months, thinking I would have more time on my hands.
I am already kind of worried. I have three invitation jobs I have signed up to do (by myself, not through work), I have a small etsy shop to maintain, a screenprinting workshop in March, and a small identity package I may be printing for someone. Not to mention getting my small press going, business cards, and any small shows I want to participate in. AAAhhh! I am already booked through June! I didn't think this would happen this year.
More than ever, in the last week I have been called a workaholic.
And now I'm beginning to see why.

holiday cheer

dear friends,
I can only hope that your holiday break went smoother than ours.
While with family, we heard news that d's grandfather passed away, although it made getting
together on Christmas (with his family) good, because there was time to reminisce and talk before a
memorial service was planned. Then, on our way home we encountered horrible car trouble challenging
our adventure skills. I am just thankful that we made it home alive. There was one point where I seriously thought we were going to die. Anyways, I hope all went well for you all.
We will be heading back this weekend for a memorial service,
although we will probably take the train as opposed to a car.
It's not time for a car adventure trip. Yet.

i have been searching for great boots for the rest of winter, and i have found many, but not many that fit my budget. i am fairly picky, and want flat boots as much as possible. here are a couple i am really wanting, although will not be getting yet. i have been seeing boots everywhere, and its hard to resist...

i am seriously in love with all the pieces from mike + chris's current collection- the colors, fit, etc. thanks to Astrid, i fell upon their site. Astrid has some of the best style sense and yet can have tons of fun with it- a definite must in my book!

thanks to all you lovely people who came out to the holiday sale at Gretchen + Norm's.
It was lovely, with cozy snacks, and christmas lights all around while
the snow fell (for a short while) outside. I had a blast, I hope you did too.
Special thanks to all who purchased an arugula press calendar- it was such a
big piece of my time that I feel every person who goes away with one can tell.
I hope you all are having a cozy winter season- I have definitely been in the holiday
spirit this year! D and I got our first christmas tree together this year and it has been
decorated with some a lovely mish-mashed collection of ornaments.

another on my christmas wish list....

thanks to uniform studio, i found this link to nervous system, who makes super cool jewelry (apparently the theme this week- which gives me an idea) which i am definitely drooling over, especially in this beginning of winter and thinking of frost. i am really into brooches lately, although i never actually wear them. they seem slightly too ladylike for me- although i think i may try wearing them soon. above: dendrite brooch in stainless steel or gold ($35).

for some time now, i have been wishing for some of Abigail Percy's jewelry. she has great style and intuition with her designs, while still keeping them classic. using the shadows of plants, and silhouettes, she creates unique pieces of jewelry which stand out. i love them! check out her site here. and my favorite thing is how she displays her pieces- on wood type and vintage books- how can you go wrong?
