post script

by the way- the new job is absolutely great and is what i needed. all my coworkers are incredibly creative, and i'm really enjoying it. stay tuned for future updates- on art work.

darn- another bag

so i finished one of my projects i said i would- the marimekko material into yet another bag. (i have been so bag crazy that d has told me that i have to give one away with every one i make- sounds fair). i was inspired by this and this- creating a mix between the two. i love how it turned out- and craftsmanship-wise, it's the best one so far. i think it's setting the bar for future projects.

hello from the big city

hello to all- i am presently sitting at the iprc using my last couple days-worth of membership. my adventures in the big town of pdx have been grand- and i'm already feeling at home. work is great and i am so glad to be a part of such a great group of people. updates will be coming shortly, although much will be slowed down from the process of moving. stay tuned

someone to watch...

after looking through grace's stationary show guide, i will now be watching for katie muth's work- the sillouettes are great, with smalll bits of color on her calendars.

ny stationary show

as many of you may know, the ny stationary show just ended. both poppytalk and design*sponge have great coverage of who was there. check out their guides here.
p.s. a fellow printer- julie of studio olivine -was featured on design*sponge's guide to the show- check it out.

pdx update

p.s. I am actually starting my new job on Monday (although I will be commuting weekly for a short period of time)- we are in the midst of searching for a place to live. One of my first stops after work sometime next week will be the iprc- updates to come on that.

why i love creatives and bloggers...

I am currently obsessed with spending too much time looking at flickr and resulting links. Someone who has caught my eye constantly (along with other people in the world) is Lisa Congdon. Based in San Francisco, Lisa is a hard worker! She daily updates her flickr site, and works dutifully in her studio nightly (along with working full time during the day)- keeping all of us at the edge of our seats. Since January first of this year, she has done the post-it drawings- one a day (I secretly wonder if she does this at work in the morning to spark her creativity for the day). Check her flickr site out and her site.

looking forward to exploring pdx...

i am excited that with my schedule at my new job, i will have some time to explore the city. here are a couple things i'm really excited for already:
1. renewing my membership at the iprc and getting into gocco printing (maybe with alissa?)
2. seaplane fashion shows (i always wanted to go to one, but had to work evenings everytime)
3. the grand re-opening of the museum of contemporary craft- on july 22nd. anyone want to meet me there?

i am definately ecstatic about being involved in letterpress printing daily, and am looking forward to the opportunities it brings.

p.s. does anyone know if there is a place like the iprc but with sewing machines? let me know.

apology and the big news

i just wanted to apologize for the lack of posting the last couple of weeks. it's been crazy in our house- i was basically asked to interview for my dream job in portland, or. and i did. i just heard on friday night that i got it! i'm going to be a production letterpress printer at Oblation Papers and Press! so we have spent the last couple of weeks figuring out plan a or b. so we are now trying to execute plan a. i will be working here starting in late june- check out their site.
so basically d and i are planning a move very soon. it'll be an adventure for sure.
there will be updates i'm sure.

p.s. i had been so apprehensive to even mention this job on here in fear of not getting it.

visit to pdx

So my mother and I ran to Portland as a sort- of early mother’s day event- plus other things. while on Alberta street, we happened to go into Bolt (a great neighborhood fabric store) and I scored a half yard of Merimekko fabric for $8! I was so ecstatic. I have just started to get into their designs, with my pattern obsession. (a picture of it is to come) I will be making yet another bag out of it. What a surprise!
