yolo colorhouse

one thing i love about the northwest is that color from nature is one of the biggest inspirations. personally, i love the textures as much as the colors. so Virginia Young and Janie Lowe are a big inspiration to me, with their brand yolo colorhouse, located in portland, oregon. they started yolo colorhouse in 1996, and have grown to be one of the most well known eco-paint creators in the northwest (if not larger area). i remember this beautiful spread in sunset magazine of their studio, and how they roller the big samples of paint... also what i love about these women is that they went to college in art, and one of them is an illustrator. i love that they found a niche and are working with something so basic (colored paint) but have made a huge impact. they make low voc paint, along with lower impact on health and environment. check them out here.
