right now i am addicted to...

so i have just found a new love in the accesories world- brooches! i used to find them a little outdated and kitchsy- but now they are getting great again. i love the screenprinted and sewn ones (anyone want to attempt some at our next screenprinting party?)- and i just found etsy seller seealso- and they have the best brooches (shown above). i am seriously in love with the two headed girl one (middle). you can find all these on their etsy shop here.

i can't get away from lotta

so today i got my new issue of Craft: magazine in the mail (i was so excited) and guess who they featured? Lotta Jansdotter of course! I keep finding her featured in publications and i can't stop obsessing over her (and she's so darn cute!). i got hooked on the ideas of screenprinting and sewing because of her. thanks lotta! keep it up- i love it all.

p.s. if you guys don't get craft magazine yet, get it! it's totally worth it- not only for inspirations, but for patterns, etc. for projects. share a subscription of it with your friends. mine is avaliable for loan to my art group- anyone up for it?

on my wish list this week

i have a huge weakness for illustration (almost as much as for letterpress), and once i saw a snipit of Laura Ljunkvist's new book 'follow the line through the house' i knew i had to feature it. Laura is not only swedish-born but is an editorial illustrator and a designer of several MOMA store catalogs. i love books that are interactive and curious for kids- especially with great design. check her site out here.

fun site for the day

thanks to mav, i found this great picture sequence- you must check it out!

looking for a papermaker

so since i am jumping into this printing world, i need some good paper. does anyone have any recommendations? i am wanting some that is thicker, that can take an impression. preferably cotton? i am thinking of porridge papers on etsy, but wondering if anyone knows any local papermakers?
drop me a note if you do.

and while we are on the subject (once again) of letterpress,
here are a few of my favorite etsy sellers:
- moontree letterpress
-port2port press
-starparticle
-lizardpress

calling all letterpress fans

i realized that i haven't ever mentioned the one of the greatest resources for anyone interested in letterpress, or the history of it. it's briarpress.org and they are great- they have a classified section in which i found my pilot press for sale. it can become addictive- watch out!

let the printing begin!

Link
The day is finally here! It is the beginning- and I am so ecstatic! It’s a newstyle of chandler and price pilot press- from Washington. Check out my flickr here for more pictures, etc. I will post with more pictures- believe me. The guy who sold it to us was so generous- he gave us a ton of ink too- along with some wooden furniture and some great enthusiasm. Stay tuned.

built by wendy

i have (obviously) been on a sewing kick, and love when simple shapes rule in designer's lines. built by wendy wins for me- not only because it's shapes rule, but because wendy is willing to share some of her tricks- in the form of patterns! she has designed 'built by you' patterns with simplicity so that you can make your own. i think they are a great idea. i will be purchasing some soon- and will definately update with some pictures. find the built by you patterns here and her spring line here.

poncho project

i just bought readymade's new issue, and i was intrigued by the poncho project made from picnic tablecloths. i don't know if i could pull off such a recognizable pattern, so i'm going to attempt to make it out of some fabric i found at a great treasure mine called econo sales in springfield. the fabric is slightly water resistant, at least water repellant, so that helps. i'll post a picture when i finish it.
